the Tour de France is for the danes to the sound of the sun and summer – and of Jørgen Leth.
But it’s over now. With Jørgen Leth, that is.
The popular film maker is not a part of TV2’s consignment for the summer, informed the tv station Thursday.
Jørgen Leth has rejected a role in the studio in Odense instead to be with during the Tour. A task, which last year was limited to a camping chair in a pavilion in the technical zone, as he because of his impaired physics not able to be in kommentatorboksen.
But to sit in a faculty of a sofa and talk about the hardships in France is far from Leths way to do things.
– It is a stupid idea they had. I had made clear from the start that I would not sit in Odense and comment on something going on in France. If there is anything I can, so it is to tell things as they are, where they happen.
I can not experience in the same way in Odense – so psychic I am not, for all that.
– With the professional setting, I have, I can simply not do something that is so unprofessional, so it is not satisfactory for me, ” says Jørgen Leth to Ekstra Bladet.

Also ended with Paris-Roubaix
Jørgen Leth had in the 1990s a crucial role in the Tour de France was a revival among Danish tv-viewers. And he also has a huge share in, that the danes preferred endagsløb is the Paris-Robaix.
In 1976, he shot the documentary ‘A Sunday in hell’ about the spectacular brostensløb, and he has therefore also been gæstekommentator each year at Paris-Roubaix.
But nor does it run, comes TV2’s viewers to experience him in longer.
– I’m sorry. For even if we disagreed on the Tour de France, I could well have thought me to be with during the Paris-Roubaix. For it is the ‘my’ race, one might say.
– But it came not, for they would make a clean break, ” says Jørgen Leth.
