Film director Bernardo Bertolucci death
The Italian film director Bernardo Bertolucci is dead, reports the AFP news agency.
He is known for including the controversial ”Last tango in Paris” and the epic ”1900”.
He was 77 years old.
Bernardo Bertolucci died on Monday morning from complications of cancer, said his publicist Flavia Schiavi for the BBC.
Bertolucci was born in 1941 in Parma, Italy, and struck in 1970 through as a director with the film ”Fascist”, which he also wrote the screenplay for. Since then he is behind a dozen movies, including ”the Last tango in Paris”, ”1900” and ”The last emperor” is his most famous work.
The former has in recent time been current when Bertolucci 2016 admitted to a våldtäktsscen in the movie was recorded without telling the female co-star, Maria Schneider, what would happen.
”The last emperor” from 1987, won Bertolucci the two Oscar statuettes. In 2011 he was awarded an honorary palme d’or at the Cannes film festival.
