The film Director Agnès Varda is dead. The French news Agency AFP reported on Friday, citing her family. She died at the age of 90 on Friday night. The Director had died of cancer, said a statement by the family, as AFP reported.

The Belgium-born, France-raised filmmaker won with “free as a Bird” as a second wife, in 1985, the Golden lion of Venice. Later, Varda has also worked as a visual artist. At the Berlin film festival to her new Film, “Varda by Agnès last ran” out of competition. Producer was your daughter, Rosalie.

Varda could look back on a 60-year career, she has been showered with honors and awards. Her great success of “bird-free” (original title: “Sans toit ni loi”) told the story of a woman as a tramp through southern France and into a world dies.
