Sweden and John Lundvik took, as expected, in the final of the Eurovision. It was no more than fair after a near-perfect performance of gospelschlagern ”Too late for love”.
Semifinalfältet he competed in was divided into two distinct segments. Five grants were on a completely own level and felt like clear finalists in advance.
and lick musikalballad with Sergey Lazarev. It was the Azerbaijani robotpyntade funkpoplåt of Chingiz. It was Switzerland’s festive partyrökare with formationsdansande Luca Hänni. And then there were the hot favourites, the two contributions in a total different registers: the Netherlands, represented by Duncan Laurence still at a solitary piano. And Sweden, with very happy gospelkörer.
All of these five went very quite on to the finals, to exactly nobody’s surprise, and all five will almost certainly place high on Saturday. In this way, it was a strong line-up.
we also suffer through the rest of the contributions – thirteen shades of mediocre skval in a perpetual cavalcade. From the Danish sackarinstinna bendinglade, pointless bland routes from Ireland and the republic of Moldova.
If it was crowded at the top, where it was indeed even thickness in the bottom, and the other five finalists would be felt more or less as a coincidence.
But for Scandinavia it was in all cases good – Denmark was on, Norway’s fun dumkitschiga jojkdänga took themselves to the final enjoyable enough, each final feel good a dumkitschig jojkdänga.
and svårtippade, final. The netherlands is undeniably good. There are a small handful of contributions that have the chance to blare – Russia, a dictionary of scripture geography, perhaps Italy, and not least Australia’s dazzling stage show-on-a-stick. And do Lundvik as well on Saturday, Sweden is definitely in the toppstriden.
