2018 was the year when Norwegian tv-viewers were europeans. A number of the year’s biggest snakkiser on the tv seriefronten have come from non-English-speaking countries, and been populated by actors and actresses we had never heard of before. And in a time when more and more Hollywood actors and directors are embracing serieformatet.
Only one american series has been placed among the top five on our list of the year’s very best tv shows. And it is a animasjonsserie. Our new heroes are French, German, Italian and Norwegian.
Here are Both-anmeldernes ten on the top list, and we start at the bottom:

TRAILER: The new Netflx series evokes the attention of several. Now also comes skrekklegenden Stephen King with their praises. Video: Netflix Show more
this Year’s scariest series, and the best spøkelseshistorien we have been told for a long time! The story of the five Crain-siblings, and how America’s most haunted house continues to haunt them in the years after that they lived there, is so well-made that we called it a lærebokeksempel on the genre when we reported it.

Sandra Oh from “Grey’s Anatomy” has replaced operasjonsalen with british intelligence in this thrillerserien about a somewhat unconventional assassin. Her opponent is the cold-blooded and murderous, but sukkersøte Villanelle, and the cat and the mouse-toy for the two ladies is a fresh twist on a genre that definitely needed a to update.

The american version of “Shame” premiered on Facebook Watch in april. And even if the series did not hit the americans as it lynnedslaget some here on the rock, perhaps had expected, it was a highly unusual remake. It is essentially the same story that we know from the first season, but with some significant changes and amerikaniseringer, written, directed and quality stamped by Julie Andem yourself.

American dramaserie on HBO Nordic
SEASON: “The Handmaid’s Tale” is based on Margarets Atwoods dystopia from 1985. Video: Hulu Show more
the Second season of this feminist dystopiserien must have been the very darkest that was to see on tv in 2018. It surpassed førstesesongen in brutality, but continued to fascinate with its mix of shudder, symbolism, biting samtidskommentar and conducted choreography and scenography. And an epic fødselsscene one should not see just before to give birth to himself, one of us unfortunately did.

American komiserie on Fox.
POPULAR: Season two of kritikerfavoritten “Atlanta” have I / we still on Fox 3. april. Show more
Spring’s best series, according to at least one of us. The unique and somewhat absurd sitcom to Donald Glover, also known as rapper Childish Gambino, is an unsurpassed depiction of today’s african-american maskuliniteter. Smart, funny and different.

Italian dramaserie on HBO Nordic.
BASED ON the BOKSUKSESS: HBO is behind “My Brilliant Friend”, which is based on Elena Ferrantes novel of the same name. Premiere 19. november. Video: HBO Nordic Show more
It is not often we have an Italian series of årsbestelista. This was a heralded success, all the time it is based on Elena Ferrantes hugely popular Naples novels. But here have all involved made an exceptionally good job, and the film adaptation opens the Ferrantes universe for even more. The mood from the books is perfectly recreated, and the friendship and knivingen between Lila and Elena get new life through the talented actors who portray them in the different phases of life.
4. “BoJack Horseman”
American animasjonsserie on Netflix.
POPULAR: Season five of animated series, Bojack Horseman premiered on Netflix in years. Show more
Animasjonserien about the horse, BoJack, fall and alcoholic Hollywood actor in a world where people and talking animals live side-by-side, has been a kritikerfavoritt in many years. In this fifth season jobs BoJack with a webserie about a depressed detective, at the same time as the understatement colorful social circle his struggle with a host of new challenges. The season has an impressive kritikerscore at 97% at Rotten Tomatoes.
3. “Heimebane”
Norsk dramaserie on NRK.
FOTBALLDRAMA: “Heimebane” is about a team and a female coach who is trying to prove that they belong in the top division. Video: NRK Show more
the Series about the first female eliteserietrener is a drama that belongs in the Champions League. Ane Dahl Torp makes one of his very best performances as the targeted Helena, in a series that causes us to cry, laugh, be angry, and not at least a little wiser. After seeing it, you understand even better what metoo-the campaign was about, both when it comes to serious abuse and more everyday challenges for women in the workplace. But “Heimebane” is not primarily about feminism. It is also a touching story about the fictitious vestlandsklubben Vargs comeback in the top division, about friendship and love, and about the relationship between ambitious parents and prestasjonshungrige teenage children. It would be hard to find a series that embraces so wide and at the same time hit so good at everything it aims at.

German dramaserie on NRK.
GERMAN DRAMA: Babylon Berlin takes place in Berlin in the interwar years. Show more
On the one hand a compelling krimplott from the German Weimarrepublikken in the inter-war years, on the other hand, the tv seriekunst in the world. “Babylon Berlin” alternates between perfectly choreographed dansescener from decadent nightclubs, and skittenrealistiske depictions of poverty in crowded apartment buildings. In between hunts we on the truth about a piquant image that can topple an aspiring politician, and stumbles across a bunch of contentious trotskijister who are trying to smuggle a dual passenger seat full of Russian gold through the country. All played against a backdrop that becomes increasingly darker. For we know well where these guys were headed in 1929.

French spionserie on NRK.
FRENCH SPIONSERIE: NRK has until now shown the four seasons of the spionserien Le Bureau. Show more
About as far away from James Bond as you can get, and yet as to the degree exciting and engaging. Especially now that we have come to season four in the NRK app. Who would have thought that a scene from a dull at the French meeting room could be so nerve-wracking? “Le Bureau” is referred to as a spionserie that even real intelligence people will find credible, and it means necessarily a little less mind-blowing action and a little more conversations by kaffeautomaten. But talented actors get what is at stake there, too, and it is not small, with the thought of all the great conflicts and tensions from the present as tematiseres. And some action is there, of course. Both in Russia, where the main character Malotru has gone into hiding, and in Syria, where kodeknekkeren Jonas hunt on the French ICE-officers. The latter is fairly new on the rollelista, and started out as comic relief, but gets increasingly greater scope. It also applies to their new boss-Marie-Jeanne Duthilleul, which is fighting its own battle against dressmennene of the executive management team.
