“Lebanon is close to having a government”

“the Mood is reported to be positive and there is a good prospect that Lebanon actually get a government – more than eight months after the parliamentary elections.”

“This is according to data from the Abdul Rahim Mrad, one of the six Hizbollahallierade members of parliament whose role in the country’s governance has been a stumbling block.”

“Abdul Rahim Mrad says to the tv channel al-Jadeed that he thinks that a government will be in place within the next few days.”

“in Lebanon’s complex political system is based on the separation of powers after the religion, where the president is maronit (christian), the prime minister sunnimuslim, and the president “objectionable”. One of the stumbling blocks in the negotiations has been the Iranstödda shiarörelsen Hezbollah’s claim to a by none to any of its allies members of parliament.”

“Exactly what negotiations landed in is not clear. Previous proposals have included the Hizbollahallierade members suggest a ministerkandidat that they think is acceptable, but refrain from regeringsplatser.”

“Lebanon, which is struggling with severe economic problems, held parliamentary elections on 6 may this year. Shortly thereafter was appointed sunnimuslimske Saad al-Hariri to the prime minister, a post he had been sitting on since december of 2016, and 2009 to 2011.”
