Due to the severe Flooding in the East of Canada the city of Montreal has declared a state of emergency. “The water is rising, and we are very concerned,” said Montreal’s mayor Valérie Plante on Friday at a press conference. With the imposition of a state of emergency in terms of additional spending, the seizure of Land or the arrangement of evacuations were possible.
In the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario had heavy rain and mass of water from the snow melt, the river level to rise dangerously. Alone in the province of Quebec, around a thousand soldiers were deployed, 3100 houses stood after a preliminary balance sheet under the water. Canada’s capital, Ottawa, had already declared on Thursday a state of emergency. More rains are predicted. (ab)
