“New findings from polar quest:”
“Reddish-brown stains on the inside of a 120 year old jacket. The new findings from andree’s failed polar quest raises now lives in a mystery.”
“– Is it blood, this is really interesting, ” says Håkan Jorikson, director of the Grenna museum.”
“the Doctor and the author Bea Uusma has found”
“Bea Uusmas research is done in cooperation with the Grenna museum, which houses a polarcenter with the exhibition of andree’s expedition.”
“– There are a number of garments in very bad condition, the rags never konserverades, who have been lying in our magazine for a long time. When Bea got hooked on this, we went through all the material again and Bea found these spots, ” says Håkan Jorikson, director of the Grenna museum, TT.”
“Then the three explorers wrecked on white island for over 120 years ago, their fate has been a mystery. If the spots in the fabric turns out to be blood, it might be a piece of the puzzle as to why they died.”
“– it Is blood, it is of course extremely interesting. Then ask the out whose blood it is. It has come from a polar bear and what does it mean in such cases? Or is it the blood of a human being?”
“– It’s cool, I think. It is indeed life after death – the expedition lives on with the extremely cutting edge technology in material which is over 100 years old, ” says Håkan Jorikson.”
“Cut away bit of the stain”
“Samples of the fabric has now been sent to a laboratory in Rotterdam to be further explored,” he says.”
“– To cut away a piece of a museiplagg is not something you do lightly. It is about the remnants from a dead man. There we stood with mouth piece, Bea was påpälsad as before a surgical procedure, and so cut she removed a bit of the stain. We were all topsade to eliminate any possible contamination. Incredibly fascinating.”
