“Nordic försvarsmöte on the island of Gotland”
“The nordic countries should help each other in times of crisis. Next week meet the countries to sign an agreement on security of supply and discuss how the future of defence cooperation should look like.”
“the Meeting takes place on the island of Gotland in the framework of the nordic defence cooperation Nordefco. Sweden, Norway and Finland will at the meeting to sign an agreement on security of supply in crisis situations.”
“– We should be able to assist each other with materialleveranser and production if a country requests it, with reference to the crisis situation. It is about being able to support each other. Hit a country of a crisis of this kind affects all of us also, ” says minister for defence Peter Hultqvist (S) to the TT.”

“Nordefco this year celebrates its tenth anniversary and works to make it easier to move material between countries, exchange information and work together to build security against cyber threats. The collaboration was formed after the war between Georgia and Russia in 2008 and escalated after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in Ukraine in 2014.”
“It is therefore no coincidence that the meeting was held right on the island.”
” We have seen a development on the Russian side, with the annexation of Crimea, the aggression against Georgia and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Then we have a wide range övningsverksamheter and provocative behaviour in the Baltic sea region. To add the meeting there is a way for us to demonstrate Gotland’s geopolitical importance, ” says Peter Hultqvist.”
“At the meeting, the participating Danish defense minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen, The minister for defence Frank Bakke-Jensen, the permanent secretary at the ministry of defence Jukka Juusti and Arnór Sigurjónsson from the icelandic ministry of foreign affairs.”
“Sweden in the year to the presidency of Nordefco and the meeting on the island of Gotland is the first of two försvarsministermöten that Sweden will host during the year.”
