The popular ‘Politijagt’-documentary on Channel 5 has gradually been running for 21 seasons.

The friendly, but firm traffic cop Vlado Lentz has been with from the very beginning and has – with the exception of a short break on half a year’s time – has been a fixture in the program.

And if you ask Denmark’s probably the only popular traffic cop, then there is nothing to suggest that tv-the adventure stops right now.

How long are you going to be at?

– It depends on so much. It is the politikredsenes management, for a year at a time draws a contract with the production company. There is a contract for 2019. If there is a contract in 2020, I don’t know. I have no influence on, but I certainly do not mind to continue, says Vlado Extra Magazine and continues:

– It runs on a level, that suits me just fine. It is up to me to determine how many days I will have them with and when. And it is typically on a three to four shifts a month, and it is perfectly fine with me. But we must see what is being decided.

it Is still fun to be filmed, when you are at work?

– Yes, definitely. Otherwise I had not done it. It has given me a unique opportunity – hopefully, to influence driver behaviour in the traffic in a good direction. The spots will be complemented by a lot of factual information in cooperation with the Council for greater road safety, and I hope then, of course, it can be to get them to put some of their bad habits away.

do people Act differently when they are stopped by someone they know from tv?

– It is very different. There are thankfully many people who do not know anything to this program, but of course there are also many who do. It is not rare that people ask: ‘aren’t you from tv’, when I have stopped them.

– sometimes we get so just have a talk about it also – either before or after we have done the police. And the vast majority of the responses I get is, fortunately, positive.

– sometimes there are even good tips out of it, when people come in to talk. So they tell maybe on a traffic light, where people always run the red light or on a neighbor, running drink-driving, as I ought to keep an eye on.

– I is known from the tv opens up, people will be more in dialogue with me, than they would do if it was a cop, they had never seen before. People are talking, quite simply, much more with me than they did before I was known from this program.

Have you been out for some funny episodes when you are recognized in the traffic?

– I have experienced escalating and escalating situations in bandemiljøer and the like, where suddenly there is a that says: ‘Hey, it is him that Vlado!’ And as happens typically that the situation will be slightly different than it otherwise wanted to have been. So, on the way, it has often a positive effect.

– Some ask for autographs, and some wonder whether there must have a picture taken together with me. And if I have the time for it, so it is always absolutely fine with me. It is also a way to show a different side of the police. And it I think. we must avail ourselves of, when we now have the opportunity.

‘Politijagt’ can be seen every Wednesday 20: 00 on Channel 5.
