”Just don’t BoJo”, says an elderly man suddenly loud on the bus to Peckham in south east London. ”Just don’t BoJo!”

His outburst in the middle of the morning rush hour was about the crisis in the Tory party that exploded the night before. If the hard-line ”Brexitörerna” really managed to set aside Theresa May had the question been open-minded about who should lead the party – and the country – until the exit from the EU in march. BoJo is, of course, the Boris Johnson as toned up as Mays ilsknaste opponent and uncompromising, arguing for a ‘ no ‘ to the utträdesavtal which May have negotiated. He hoped certainly get the question about the successor to May. But within the faction that undermined her there is currently no clear candidate.

here in London was for Brexit, and almost all are sick and tired of discussing the topic. The votes for withdrawal came from other parts of the country, the stagnation of the fishing communities along the coast and industrial cities in the Uk rostbälte. Many people say, in retrospect, have thought on the UKIP leader, Nigel Farrage, when he claimed that a no to the EU mainly meant a no to all forms of immigration, which through some sort of automation would have huge amount of flow to the cracking, the public healthcare system, the NHS. A claim Farrage himself acknowledged was untrue the day after the vote, then it served its purpose.

But the most remarkable is that none of the hard-line Brexitörerna want to talk about the conflict’s core. Peace in northern Ireland. Even Jeremy Corbyn mumble past the issue. Where can you talk about the green elephant in the middle of the room. As a commentator on the BBC pointed out, almost with wonder in his voice, it is only now clear to many that the ”Good Friday Agreement”, which made the peace process real, was completely intertwined with the two countries ‘ membership in the EU.

”peace,” say it now ”backstop” – and refers to the clause in the utträdesavtalet which says that no ”hard limit” between Ireland and northern Ireland may be inserted until the EU and the UK negotiated a free trade agreement. Quite rightly, say the critics, that the man then remains in a customs union, they renounced all political influence. But what they never talk about is the consequences of a new frontier – which literally hijacks of the economic and social ties built up during twenty years of peace. You pretend to be, not a word that you want to take the risk to bring to life a conflict that has cost thousands of lives.

Already in the book, ”Brexit and Ireland” (2017), claimed Tony Connelly, irish RTE’s correspondent in Brysssel, that Brexit was actually an impossibility. The consequences would be too difficult for both the brits like the irish, but at the very worst it would be for northern Ireland. Connolly was also one of those who on Monday pointed to how the new possibilities opened when the european Court of human rights ruled that the Uk actually can unilaterally decide to stay in the EU without further negotiation.

the political maneuvering, when 117 of Mays own voted against her, led to a further deterioration of the prime minister and everything points to her utträdesavtal voted down in about a week. DUP, the ulster, the protestant party that is the conservative minoritetsregeringen only to some extent due, has openly said that it does not intend to approve it. Then open the threat of a ”hard Brexit” – which is the greatest risk to the border on the northern Ireland re-emerges. Which can roll back twenty years of peace work.

But that side of things does not worry any of the more hard-line Brexitörerna, who continue to remain silent, very loudly in the question. And BoJo tiger at the top of them all.
