John Walker died Saturday in his home in Los Angeles after a six-months long battle with liver cancer. He was 67.

the American – born John Joseph Maus in New York – was songwriter, guitarist and singer in the group The Walker Brothers, who in the middle of the 1960s hit with the decadent and alluring popsingler not least ‘Make It Easy On Yourself’ and ‘The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore’. The latter indspilllede the Black Sun in 1985.

The Walker Brothers, was dissolved in 1968, restored in 1975, and dissolved again in 1978.

John Walker was initially a singer in the trio, but the role as frontman, took over Scott Walker, who later created a successful solo career. John Walker tried also with several soloudgivelser – however, without much success.

The Walker Brothers’ drummer, Gary Walker, said Sunday on its website that it is ‘a very sad day’. He calls also the colleague ‘a gentleman with lots of style’.

John Walker was married four times and had three children.
