A ‘cosy and romantic christmas song’ some would call julehittet ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’. Others would call it a song about a reluctant woman and a man, who did not take a no for a no.

Among the ‘other’ is the radio station Star 102 Cleveland. In the middle of the sweet christmas time, they have therefore chosen to ban the julehittet at the request of their listeners.

the Reluctance julesangen fact that they believe that the song calls for rape.

It writes CNN.

‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ written in 1944 as a duet between a man and a woman, where a very insistent man tries to persuade a woman to be a party with regard to the horrific weather outside.

Especially the line ‘What’s in this drink?’ has been the Star 102 Cleveland to respond and ban the song from its julerepetoire.

They believe that that added up to that the man has placed something in the woman’s drink, so that he can commit a ‘date rape’, i.e. rape, where the ignorant victim has been put drugs in his drink.

– People may say ‘oh, enough with all the #Meto’, but if you put it to the side and read the lyrics, it’s not a situation I would want my daughter to ports in, says radio host Desiray to CNN.

– the Song might be a hit, but let’s perhaps not be promoting the kind of thinking.

On the radio station’s website one can read that the host Gleen Anderson in the beginning did not understand, how the lyrics were so offensive, but he has got the eyes – or the ears – up.

‘I am aware that, since the song was written in 1944, it was a different time, but when I read it now, it seems very manipulative and wrong’, he writes on the website.

‘The world we live in, is extra sensitive now, and people are easily offended, but in a world where #Meto has finally given women the voice they deserve, the song is no walk on the land.’
