On Sunday evening, the profits are in the Theater Winterthur, the inside and the winners of the 23. Edition of the International short film days Winterthur was awarded. The main prize went to a French Film about Migration .
36 films were in the running for the main prize of the International competition. SRG’s with 12’000 Swiss francs, the award went to “Bab Sebta” (France, Morocco 2019) from Randa Maroufi, as it was said in a media release.
“A Film with a strong political Statement,” praised the Jury. The Director questioned the ideology of borders and the poisonous rhetoric in the migration policy. Particularly, the Jury also highlighted the movement of the camera.
The 10’000 cash prize promotion prize, sponsored by the city of Winterthur, went with “Automne malade / Autumn III” (France 2019) at Lola Cambourieu and Yann Berlier. A Film about the path to self-determination, the will to a “cinematic adventure”, was the Jury.
Michael Karrer with the best of Swiss Film
17 short films were evaluated by the Jury. The prize for the best Swiss Film in the amount of 10’000 Swiss francs, donated by Suissimage and SSA, handed over to the Jury to “22:47 line 34,” (Switzerland, 2019) by Michael Karrer.
by the Zurich cantonal Bank with CHF 10,000 audience prize this year, “Postcards from the End of the World” (Greece 2019) received by Konstantinos Antonopoulos.
The six-day short-film festival, recorded 17’500 entries, and welcomed over 650 guests from the national and the international short film industry. (nag/sda)
