The archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit has confirmed on Tuesday that the reconstruction of the Notre-Dame cathedral, partially destroyed by a fire in 2019, could begin “by January 2021”, once past the consolidation phase of the building. “We finished off all the consolidation. Reasonably, we can start the work in January 2021”, he said to the press during the inauguration of an exhibition of children’s drawings representing the cathedral, on the fence of the construction site, in the presence of Jean-Louis Georgelin, chief of operations of the reconstruction of the jewel of gothic art.

“there are always hazards. But it is reasonable to think,” said the archbishop, saluting moreover, in front of dozens of schoolchildren present, the “sign of hope” given by the children with their designs.
