In the Swiss house, around a Million tonnes of food waste every year. About half of them could be avoided. This corresponds to a year, 60 pounds of avoidable food waste per Person.

A large part of the food loss goes to the account of the agriculture: There is 225’000 tons of food losses in the fall of each year. Of these, around 90 percent are preventable. These Figures published by the Federal office for the environment (FOEN) on Monday.

It has in the past years and consider how many food-by “Food Waste” will be lost. Previously, the results for the catering and the retail trade have been published. There are 390’000 tons of food waste each year. Around three-quarters or 300’000 tons could be avoided. (nag/sda)
