the Swedish athletes, the IOC and the covenants: You need not bring a single state heads, politicians,
This is an opinion piece. It is the writer who stands for the views that are put forward in the text, not the newspaper Aftonbladet.
DEBATE. If a little over seven years, one in the day fifteen-year girl or guy to stand on the podium for his performance in a winter OLYMPICS in Sweden. For the first time since 1912.
About seven years, a guy or girl that today has just started at the preschool participate in a sports activities that fit him or her. Then there is no longer any queues caused by the lack of space in the hall or on the pitch. Even children with disabilities can fit in the available halls.
About seven years, it doesn’t matter if girl or guy is born in Sweden of Swedish parents or if she or he has parents who come to Sweden during the last decade.
About seven years, these girls or guys have been helped by the courageous decision taken now. By the Swedish government, by guaranteeing the security of the olympic and paralympic games in Sweden in 2026. But not by adding a single state crown, but by providing the security conditions, just as the government guarantees all of the other international gatherings.
the city Of Stockholm in order to think that the sport is conducted in this city, irrespective of whether it is a large cup for community, an international meeting for peace, or for the OLYMPICS and Paralympics.
the Time is now button and Stockholmspolitiker has the decision in his hand.
About seven years, the olympic games will be a reality. Then we can see international athletes from all corners of the world. In Åre, in Falun and Stockholm, sweden.
the Way to 2026, and then the olympic fire is lit would be lined with confidence and enthusiasm. Ask anyone who has stood on the podium about what it is that triggered them the most. The answer is almost always – to have made it at home.
Home is an important issue that requires his special attention and discussion. Why is it always all other countries will organise events, which we swedes appreciate so much? And why tilltror we nations, as we in other contexts have opinions on that they do not exercise democracy and human rights, to be the only one who can arrange? How credible are we?
And why have an event where athletes meet cost large amounts of money that the citizens of the city or the country in the end have to pay?
These ”why” we have asked ourselves for many years. Now we have finally got response from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) changed its conditions radically. The new scenario assumes the requirements of a sustainable olympic games, not least environmentally, and that puts the sport first and foremost.
These requirements mean that the organizing country as far as possible, shall use the facilities that already exist. There is also no requirement on the new infrastructure. And implementation of the games require no financial guarantees from the organizing countries or cities.
These new directives has been the starting point for the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) registered their interest for the winter OLYMPICS and Paralympics in Sweden in the year 2026. Sweden is now one of two countries that have gone to the shortlisting. And we want to win the final vote.
We want to about seven years, show up a country that believes in the youth on the move physically feeling much better, to those who like to compete have the very best conditions and we want to show how sport can act as an important factor for integration.
SOK, the Swedish Paralympic Committee (SPK) and the Stockholm Sports federation has, therefore, been together for seven years to work together to realize three important ambitions. They all have one thing in common; a long-term your goals, and good role models provide the best conditions.
in Order to realize these points, the Swedish Olympic Committee and Swedish Paralympic Committee, together with the Stockholm sports federation allocate specific resources and mobilising role models and seem to get more participation of young people.
We will also be able to show how a increased variety of plants for summer and vinteridrotter can make this possible. And there are plants that do not have a thing with the OLYMPICS and Paralympics to make. However, with confidence in the future.
Right now, there is an intense debate within the policy nationally, but especially in the city if we want and if we are to be hosts for the winter games in 2026. We understand the discussion and all considerations. Unfortunately, most of the arguments of how it looked in the past. But today’s economic conditions look quite different.
The notification SOK have made are based on to zero must come from the state or municipality. Nor are there any requirements for financial guarantees. Notification of an olympic and paralympic games in Sweden is to use the existing facilities in Åre, Falun and Stockholm. In addition, they will be rented by the organizer.
But, and this perhaps is the most important, we want to implement a OLYMPICS and a Paralympics in Sweden, and we believe that it means something to them growing up day. And for that we want to show that a democratic nation can implement it.
We want to show confidence in the future for all the young people who is young today. They, quite regardless of whether they will stand on the podium or don’t know – I want to, I want to participate and I can.
in Order to reach our ultimate goal, we feel strong confidence in our democratically elected politicians that even they want to. If seven years can we celebrate a success, not only because we are a democracy, but also because we think that sport is actually fun, whether it is on the podium or own training in the track.
