FilmDas Sundance Film Festival in 2020 in the U.S. member of the state of Utah has selected two Swiss productions for the competition sections: the documentary “Saudi Runaway” by Susanne Regina Meures and the feature film “Yalda, A Night For Forgiveness” by Massoud Bakhshi.

“Saudi Runaway” is filming a woman secretly in your everyday life in one of the most repressive of the Patriarchates in the world and is planning their escape. “Yalda, A Night For Forgiveness” takes place in Iran, where the young Maryam to death is sentenced because they killed by Mistake their was many years older than husband. Whether you will be blessed, depends only on the daughter of the Killed and whose appearance in a TV Show.

The two films are shown as world premieres, such as Swiss Films announced on Thursday. “Saudi Runaway” was selected for the section World Cinema Documentary Competition, “Yalda, A Night For Forgiveness” for the section World Cinema Dramatic Competition.

The Sundance Film Festival, it takes place in 2020 from 23. January to 2. February, is considered to be an important platform for independent American and international productions.

The next Festival will be shown in 118 films, where the diversity among the Director leading large: 44 per cent of the films one or more women is directed by, in the case of about one-third of women and men “of colour” is directed by, at 15 percent of the films the Director was a Person from the LGBT community.
