The screening was scheduled for 23 June, in the aftermath of the reopening of the cinemas in France in its great hall, which can accommodate 2700 people. This decision comes as the movement Black lives matter, revived after the death of George Floyd in the United States, plays with the world of entertainment and culture.
Launched at the end of may, HBO, Max has decided to temporarily remove it from its catalog, the multi-oscar winning movie from Victor Fleming with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, on the grounds that it “depicts racist stereotypes that were common in american society”. The all-new platform plans to put online the film with elements of context. Gone with the wind, which tells the story of Scarlett O’hara and Rhett Butler on the background of the Civil war, is considered one of the biggest success in the history of cinema.
