The Greens oppose the coalition’s compromise on the extension of the arms export ban to Saudi Arabia as inadequate. Party leader Anna Lena Baerbock said the Berlin “daily mirror”: “the need for a complete arms export ban to Saudi Arabia. The back door has built the Federal government for community projects, open gaping wide.” It was “absolutely unacceptable” that the German and European arms in Yemen, the war could land.

Baerbock called on the Federal government, with EU partners to ensure that European law is respected: “We need an EU Supervisory Board for a strict European export control and the possibility to sanction member States that break EU rules”, asked the Green party leader.
