The minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, has removed brigadier general of the u.s. Army Juan Francisco Díaz Rodríguez-Valdés as director of the Technical Cabinet of the chief of the Defence staff.

In the order, published Wednesday in the Official Bulletin of the Ministry of Defence (BOD), indicates that the termination occurs at the request of the head of the military leadership, general Fernando Alejandre, whom he dismissed was a man of the utmost confidence and a personal friend.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence has refused to comment on the reasons for the termination and has been referred to the content of the ministerial order. Military sources claim that the general Díaz Rodríguez-Valdés referred in insulting terms to the director general Recruiting and Military Education, Amparo Valcarce, and little respectful to the deputy secretary of Defense Alejo de la Torre, in a group of Whatsapp which involving dozens of members of the military belonging to its same class of the weapon of Artillery.

The episode reminds the starred recently by the spokesman of the Popular Group of the Senate, Ignacio Cosidó, whose comments in a group Whatsapp shared by the senators of the PP led to the resignation of a candidate to preside over the Supreme court, judge Manuel Marchena, and the cessation of İmajbet the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary.

In this case, the Defense has opted for the immediate dismissal, considering that his comments are incompatible with a position of trust as that occupied by. Although the forum in which it occurred was private, and the large number of military officers who were involved in the same gave public relevance.

Despite this, Defence has avoided to send the general to his house and he has named then advisor to the chairman of the Joint chiefs, admiral Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Huix, dependent on the general Alejandre.

This is the second official general dismissed since it was formed the Government of Pedro Sanchez, last June. In August he was stopped the vice-admiral Alfonso Carlos Gómez Fernández de Córdoba as the deputy director general of Recruitment and career Counseling of the Ministry of Defence, in the midst of controversy by the decision to repeat part of the opposition to psychologist military after they were excluded two candidates for wearing tattoos admitted to the aspiring boys.

The 31 of August, the Council of Ministers ordered the pass forced the reserve of the vice-admiral, not wanting to assign any of the vacancies in the Navy, but this was appealed to the Supreme, which in October suspended the Government’s decision and ordered it up cautiously to active service. I do not believe that it has reinstated yet.
