R Kelly appeared in a court in Chicago on Friday to ask the judge to temporarily lift his travel ban. Earlier in the week, applied to the sexbrottsanklagade r’n’b star for permission to travel to Dubai to conduct a series of concerts, and now he asked for more time to present more arguments in order to travel.
He even claims that the concerts are necessary for that he should be able to pay the maintenance he owes his children’s mother, writes the Independent.

”the Authorities in Dubai have not received any request to appear by singer R Kelly, no premises, nor have been booked,” writes the press office according to Rolling Stone.
In Kelly’s application to the court in Chicago shows that the singer wants to play in Dubai on 17-19 april. As the argument is presented, among other things, that he had written on the contracts for the gigs, before he was arrested by the police earlier in the year, and he already is scheduled to meet Dubai’s royal family.

R Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg writes for Rolling Stone that the singer has signed a contract with a ”legitimate organizer” and the reason that no gigs have been booked depends on the travel ban, his client is faced with.
R Kelly is accused of ten cases of sexual abuse against four persons, three of whom were minors at the time of the abuse. In connection with that he was released on bail earlier in February he was forced to withdraw from his pass.

R Kelly have been circulating for years. He has previously been charged and cleared for child pornography and he has been accused of holding several young women captive under sect-like conditions. Allegations recently gained new momentum with the much talked about documentary series ”We survived R Kelly”, where several of the artist’s alleged victims to come forward.
Each of the ten charges can lead to up to seven years in prison.
