“If we love the people, if we devote ourselves to them, if we are devoted to them, then we unite because we can beat all the others.” Sunday evening on BFMTV, at the end of a Humanity festival during which the union of the left via the Nupes was torn apart, Jean-Luc Mélenchon launched a charge that he perhaps hopes will be definitive against the ecologists, socialists and other communists, who have each established the constitution of autonomous lists with a view to Europeans.
The three-time presidential candidate who still holds his party with an iron fist, mocked his partners. “An ecology that is not anti-capitalist for me is gardening. Socialism which does not question capitalism is cute and communism which does not set itself the objective of leading a socialist revolution, I wonder what it is!”
The matter is quite clear for Mélenchon. “I don’t do Nupes because I love other people.” To hear him say, this union is not a question of feeling. Besides, he admits: “I don’t like them. No.” This union takes place “in the interest of the people and to overcome their poverty”. Those who refuse it would go against these interests.
