My new hobby hit for a couple of weeks ago. Then I had just come home from a long train ride with plenty of time to reflect on how I should remediate my life even more climate-friendly direction.

” the Situation is urgent, as you hopefully have understood. Only this week the news come thick and fast. The world meteorological organization, WMO, has submitted a great report on how the concentration of greenhouse gases in the air rises, how the temperatures is becoming increasingly dangerous and how most natural disasters in recent times can be linked to extreme weather and climate. SMHI presented the statistics that show that Sweden last year was 1.7 degrees warmer than in the 1800s. (Warming in our country are about twice as high as the global average.) And the temperature for the entire earth now in the February low of 1.24 degrees higher than the average for February 1850-1900, according to new statistics from the Berkeley Earth.

we have done a lot of, for example, brought down the power consumption to a minimum, joined to the wind turbine, planted forest, rent a car a couple of times a year…

However, I have not become a vegetarian. I have the utmost respect for people who make that choice, but I myself have probably meant continuing with the meat and dairy products. There are several arguments, except that I was raised and formed in such a food culture.

the Land use is a factor. There are lands, not least in Sweden, that is a better fit for djurdrift than for crop production. The right kind of animal husbandry can also benefit biodiversity.

Preparedness, we should not forget either. Transport is normally a small part of food’s carbon footprint. You may wish to support the Swedish agriculture still to you have friends, neighbors or relatives who are farmers, or purely aesthetically appreciate the open landscape. Or, you think completely crass to Sweden to be able to meet their food security in the event of war and calamity.

I have in the back of my mind when I try to adapt the findings of the study Food in the Anthropocene from the EAT Lancet to my own life.

the Study, which was published in the beginning of February is thus an attempt to calculate a ”referensdiet” that makes ten billion people on the earth to be able to eat food that is both healthy and environmentally sustainable.

the Idea is to referensdieten should be adapted to local conditions and personal preferences. And so this is what I’m currently doing. I measure and weigh and find that I make with 18 grams of marmalade, 10 grams butter and 90 grams of skim milk for breakfast. There is a point that I have begun with low-fat milk, otherwise there will not be much milk left for butter, cream and cheese.

0-500 grams of whole milk a day with an average of 250 grams. If you stick to the maximum of 500 grams of whole milk a day, the 3.5 liter in the week, corresponds to approximately 170 grams of butter or 3,5 dl cream or 350 grams of cheese.

the milk quota is capable I with a plea, where I think me too, but köttkvoten, I think, is quite easy. Referensdieten accommodates up to a serving of beef or pork each week, a couple of servings of chicken and a couple servings of fish or seafood.

Cereals, vegetables and dried peas, beans and lentils, there are lots of space. 25 grams of hazelnuts and walnuts on the day I eat already. But it has encountered a luxury problem, because referensdieten also contains 25 grams of peanuts a day. How I now should be able to fit into them.

There are details in EAT the lancet’s referensdiet that I would like to change for Swedish conditions. For example, I would allow more eggs but completely remove the palm oil.

But otherwise I can recommend my new hobby. To keep track of what you eat is good for both health and the environment. I have had several eye-openers, and in addition, it has been unexpectedly fun.
