“What we don’t need is irregular migration, which is illegal, but still leads to permanent residence and receipt of social benefits,” said the FDP leader. It needs “more consistency in dealing with migrants who have no right of residence”.
In return, it is about “paving the way for immigrants who want to work here by, among other things, recognizing existing training more quickly,” demanded Lindner.
He also expressed concrete expectations of the newly appointed migration officer Joachim Stamp (FDP). This should “conclude agreements with countries of origin on the repatriation of illegal immigrants”. A give and take is conceivable. “Facilitation of visas for students and in economic cooperation, but also partnership in preventing illegal migration.”
The refugee summit in Berlin dealt, among other things, with the distribution of the burden of accommodation. Municipalities and districts demanded more money from the federal government. After the summit, Interior Minister Faeser presented the results at a press conference.
