Bloody maffiahistorier and the active volcano of mount Etna despite Sicily a popular destination. The capital Palermo is a historic port town where the streets are lined with palaces, churches and other old buildings. Here are also held the ”opera dei pupi”, the world-famous sicilian marionettdockteatern, very much alive. At the Teatro Pupi Argento in Via Pietro Novelli, 1, in Palermo held beliefs. The marionettes museum on the Piazzetta Antonio Pasqualina, 5, next to Via Butera are thousands of handmade puppets, some several hundred years old.
The best sandy beaches are located like a string of pearls along the south coast, but also in the north there are nice beaches; for example, is the city beach in Cefalù well attended. The best views of the beach, if you follow the path at the foot of the cliff of La Rocca up to the ruins of the castle, and the ancient temple of diana.

like Rome, Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari is built on seven hills. The rock Sella del Diavolo on Poettostranden is the unofficial symbol of the city. In the Old town are the Cathedral, the San Pancrazio tower, the Elephant tower and the archaeological museum. Summer are held concerts and theatrical performances in the Roman Amphitheatre. Not far from the Amphitheater are the archaeological remains of the poet Tigellios villa.
In the food market Mercato Civico di San Benedetto is sold including freshly caught octopus and sea urchins.
to the East of Cagliari, is the Costa Smeralda coastline where jetsetturisterna agree to. The best beaches are a few hours drive away, around the seaside resort of Cala Gonone on the east coast. Cala Luna is a beach with turquoise and snorkelvänligt water. Can only be accessed by boat from Cala Gonone or by a rather adventurous four-kilometer-long walk.

the Old city of Nicosia, the divided city, is surrounded by a venetian wall built in the 1500s. Narrow streets, old chalets, with ornate balconies interspersed with small shops, tavernas and cafes. Laiki ” yitonia district is a restored 1700-talsenklav where local artisans display their goods.
Paphos is, according to myth, the Greek godess of love, Aphrodite’s birthplace. It was here that she stepped up out of the foaming sea a bit outside of the city. The city is a Unesco world heritage site. Golvmosaiken in Pafosmosaikerna is a major tourist attraction, so are the underground tombs of the kings which are carved out of rocks and decorated with doric pillars.
