Renaissance MP Benjamin Haddad tabled an amendment to the amending finance bill (PLFR) on Monday, November 7 in order to double the amount of the military support fund for Ukrainians. This amendment, tabled on behalf of the Renaissance group, is examined this Tuesday 8 at the end of the day. It was co-signed by the entire majority group and is supported by the government, which filed the same, precise with L’Express Benjamin Haddad.

Emmanuel Macron announced on October 7 the creation of a “special fund” of 100 million euros so that Ukraine could “purchase directly from our manufacturers the equipment it needs most to support its war effort. “. “An innovative and interesting initiative”, according to Benjamin Haddad, insofar as it “gives lines of credit to Ukrainians so that they can order French military equipment without having to tap into our own stocks”.

By this amendment, the majority intends to “affirm once again its support for Ukraine”, underlines Benjamin Haddad. “We see that this military aid is bearing fruit on the ground because the Ukrainians are counter-attacking successfully”, notes the deputy from Paris, who deplores the “aggravation of war crimes” committed on the ground by Moscow as well as the cuts of electricity and water suffered by Ukrainians.

The LREM deputy also recalls that the members of Renaissance have tabled a resolution of support for Ukraine. This resolution carried by Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Assembly, will be examined in the hemicycle at the end of November within the framework of the parliamentary niche of his group.

France has so far provided 18 Caesar guns of 155 mm with a range of 40 kilometres, mounted on trucks, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, forward armored vehicles (VAB), fuel, equipment individuals and about fifteen 155 mm TRF1 towed guns to Ukraine.

“There is very clearly a reaffirmed desire to support Ukraine at this moment of the war, to continue to support it with our budgetary support, by preparing for reconstruction or by our military support”, underlined Emmanuel Macron October 7. The Head of State had also confirmed at that time that France was planning to deliver six additional Caesar guns to Ukraine, taken from an order intended for Denmark.
