the data the author, UPM’s and Sampo’s chairman of the boards Björn Wahlroos was today the media spotlight.
in His new book How did it come to this? Why our country does not have the presence of mind to prosperity was announced by the publisher-the big dipper’s premises in Helsinki. At the same time Wahlroos give one to one interviews for the part of the media, also Yle.
Wahlroos has recently appeared more frequently in the media, so the ten minute interview provides an opportunity to ask his views on a few of the big topical issue.

a Bit like Greta Thunberg said that I don’t know, listen to the scientists. As said in the book, it is undeniably obvious that the world can be better, if the air would be a little less carbon dioxide.
– Many of them, which are often criticized, in fact make it for hard work. The forest industry planted huge amount of trees. We [UPM] is built to Uruguay million acres of the park, or well, a forest. It is the world’s largest man-made carbon sinks. UPM probably exclusively planted 55 million trees a year, it is a much larger number than what these various activist organizations suggested trees for planting.
But then I hope I don’t baby the younger generation have nightmares about what we are facing. The world has survived worse than this.
Antti Haanpää / Ylemissä think capitalism criticism? The Financial Times in the manifesto highlighted the increasing inequality, reduced competition and tax evasion?
(Financial times’s September manifesto of capitalism amending you can read here (you move to another service), and the Yle pages on the topic, published a column on this.)
It is mainly bullshit. The competition has grown tremendously in a global and transparent world, no need to go to the Amazon website and understand that the competition is in retail many times more than ten years ago. It is manifest nonsense.
we’ve also migrated to a world where the technology of the digital economy, the skilled labor productivity is something completely different than our usual tramppaa makers. It leads to the sort of inevitably lead to the fact that income inequality is growing. Bill Gates and other contributions to the world economy has just been so huge, that it has produced unimaginable vaurauksia. There is a simple answer: the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is giving away the bulk of their money. It, too, is therefore pointless worry.
Antti Haanpää / YleEntä ordinary people’s frustration and nationalism rise in Europe? Whether they and the wealth distribution do you think common?
– First of all, of course, I’m an awful lot older than you and many others, and of society, the inequality has decreased quite a huge one–two generations. Social mobility is absolutely huge: it today’s billionaires are no inheritors, but they are all entrepreneurs. We have no longer any nobility, but in fact, the world is much more equal than it has ever before in history.
And now I have a reason media. I live a lot in France and England, and it is almost exciting to read the newspaper, how many riots there are. Lo and behold, we who live will never see them. So this involves a little thing, that march crowd in front of the camera and can then be very media attention for it.
Antti Haanpää / YleKokeeko of people, however, left the part out about what is happening in the world?
– Certainly there are people who experience themselves as marginalised or disadvantaged. The policy which we here in Finland now, we’re practicing, not bad for really good parties. They live better than ever. The big problem is the usual lower middle class, whose jobs will be lost abroad. If we want to prevent the Finnish dramatic inequality and the middle class disappearing, we must ensure that Finland wants to invest. It is a book of my key messages.
Investments are the only way to increase the work productivity. Domestic product is not the source of the surge that we finns should be more, and in fact, we seem to be coming less and less. If we want better economic conditions, we need more work productivity. And productivity rises only investing.
Antti Haanpää / yle theof China, menace or model?
– it’s a model not like the reform pace and that there is understood in the economic growth of importance. Of course it’s not a model politically. China is an amazing place, I’m there pretty much be you and I don’t really understand. How so central a country is able to clean up nurkkiaan and reduce corruption?
– China should not remain such forever. But when a typical european will come to China and ask that as China becomes a democracy, then they said that never. They don’t want democracy, so ordinary people say that they want it! When it is just taken aback, that’s what this is.
