The Flemish Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) predicts in a new report how Flanders in 2050 will look like on the basis of four possible scenarios. The main theme is a green infrastructure that the loss of biodiversity should stop, and maybe even can roll back.

The aim of INBO is to decline still, to stop, to turn back as it can be: “nature in Flanders can provide a solution to a number of major societal challenges”. And that is, according to the report, with greener infrastructure. That infrastructure may, on the basis of four scenarios to be accomplished.

A first scenario, or “viewing direction” assumes that people are looking to nature to relax, to have a beautiful landscape to enjoy and to neighbours, residents and other city and villagers to meet”. The focus is on the restoration of traditional landscapes.
it could be that rural areas have sufficient landscape features from the past. The most fertile lands around a village center and should be responsible for the production of vegetables and fruit. In a city, then there are sufficient green spaces. The stretching, green roofs and tuinstraten that already gain popularity, would in great numbers to grow.
