Environment of The Dutch electricity grid creaks under the popularity of solar panels. The enthusiasm in the companies and associations in order to place solar panels is in some places so great that it just all that extra electricity can’t handle. There is traffic congestion on the power grid, writes the newspaper The Telegraph.
In parts of Groningen, Drenthe and Overijssel would grid operators Enexis and Tennet all new large-scale projects have to stop, according to the newspaper. It may, for example, investors who are building solar fields want to build on agricultural land, or to football clubs.
“The great enthusiasm for solar panels is simply the consequence of the current funding,” says spokesman Jeroen Brouwers of grid operator Tennet. “That is beautiful, and in most cases it may also all, but not anywhere in the same area.”
