Showbizz It is Annelien Coorevits (32) for the wind: she is every Friday on the television show as host of ‘Temptation Island’, is already more than ten years happily together with her husband Olivier and two lovely children. “I feel good in my skin,” she said last weekend in The Morning. Though that was not always so: on her Miss Universe, she has anything but good memories.
In 2007, Annelien, who was Miss Belgium was part of the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. And that was a lot less fun than it sounds: “When all the contestants went through a month long at the hotel were for the election of Miss Universe, we sat with about a hundred girls together on one big floor, we are not allowed to leave. There was one meeting room where we could talk, but for the rest we had all the time in our room to spend. And what do you do when you’re bored? You begin to eat. Anyhow, I still. So I thickened. Until one day I got to hear that in the newspaper a megagroepsfoto had appeared, and then a piece: ‘Our miss let a little hang out’. The journalist of that article, I would like to ask: why are you how harmful those words are?”
“I am a strong personality, but that has me very severely affected. If I was a girl full of complexes, a girl that’s bad in her own skin was, this was a homicide. You are sitting in a hotel with all girls who are on their nineteenth the perfection itself. In Venezuela and Colombia, there are schools for girls from eight years old to train for Miss Universe. On their nineteenth, they are all completely converted. They ate also not at all. They found it abnormal that I do have breakfast took. I felt I was completely not at home. I felt in a manner of speaking with a woman between them. If you have a month in such an environment, you start very hard to doubt yourself. My sister says that I complexes’m going to get through that journey and that is a bit. Fortunately, I am now sitting much better in my skin than then.”
