make your own liquid fertilizer – how to

In the months where your houseplants are growing (march–October), recommend Jesper Carl Corfitzen, that you as a rule of thumb, water your potted plants once a week, and that you fertilize every other time you water, every other week. Keep in mind, however, that it is a rule of thumb, and some potted plants require special care to thrive.

He recommends the following method:

Take a opvaskebalje, a big pot or a similar container.Fill the container with water (and liquid plant fertilizer with micronutrients in adequate quantity every other time).Set your potted plant in the container, and let it suck the water in ca. 5-10 minutes.Tag potteplanten up and let it drain. So is it just to put the plant back in place.

This advice applies of course only if your potted plants are in a plasticpotte or similar, which you can easily pull up from the potteskjuleren.

From november to February, you must turn down the irrigation. Here it is usually enough to water every 14. day.

When a new growth period to start, towards the end of February, it is a good time to transplant houseplants, if they need it. Clear signs that a plant needs a bigger pot, is, for example, that it is not growing at the same pace as normal, and that the plant’s roots grow out of the pottens bottom.

Under all circumstances you should give your plants a place fresh potting soil annually.
