NEWCASTLE (Dagbladet): Quinton Fortune (41) played seven seasons in Manchester United from 1999 to ten in 2006. He played among other things with Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and know both the Norwegian and the club well.

In connection with the fight against Newcastle, it was the Fortune of the space at St. James’ Park. He was full of praise about Manchester United’s new manager.

amazing, really. I think he has done an incredible job. And I’m not surprised, for when I played with him, he had an incredible work ethic, an eye for detail and he has done a fantastic job with Molde. He has so much experience and he understands the club, he understands the culture of Manchester United. He has come in, and get used to the experience that he has had under Sir Alex (Ferguson, journ.anm.). And you can see it in the results he has achieved, ” says Fortune to the Newspaper.

– How much of the credit he should have for the turnaround to the United?

I don’t think Ole will have all the glory, there is not such kind of person he is. He will of course have credit for the way he has come in and changed the mindset, but Ole will that all shall have the honor, Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick and the players. They have played their role. He must of course get the credit for that it is the familiefølelsen again. You see happy players who are enjoying the time, you can see it on the play style. You need someone who understands the culture. Joe has been there and he knows what the club is all about and it is fantastic to see, believe Fortune.

From frustration to a big cheer! Solskjær write history Familiefølelse

And the former Manchester United player got to see the good vibe in the group up close before the match against Newcastle.

I was so lucky that I got to hit them in the morning, I met them at the hotel and when I walked in during lunch, it reminded me of the time under Sir Alex. It was a familiefølelse, ” says Fortune.

Fortune describes a good environment during Ferguson, where people knew what that required of them, and often behaved accordingly.

– It is incredible. It is what we have missed. In all environments, if there is a positive environment, so people will thrive. Ole has brought the feeling back. He was used to the environment when he played, on a daily basis during training, with the players who had a wonderful relationship with each other. This is what the players were accustomed to under Sir Alex, and he has brought it back, ” says Fortune about the Solskjærs influence.

On the question whether he sees a difference from when José ^ the academic degree awarded led the red, will not Fortune speculating in it, since he was not so close at the club during the period.

I’m just glad to see that Joe is there, that we play the football we used to play. Everyone knows that Manchester United can play football, and you’ll see the change in the players, the joy and the excitement with the goals they have scored. Now looking forward to the to play games, you know they are going to play the Manchester United way and we look forward to it. We must continue with the amazing results, believe sørafrikaneren.

Fortune learned Solskjær’s good to know in the course of the six seasons, the duo played together. He thinks it is difficult to say whether he thought Solskjær would one day lead a storklubb as a manager.

– It is difficult to say, as a player, you are focused on the game and you don’t think too far ahead, you think you will play forever. But the way he trained and the way he behaved… When you look back now, fall all of the puzzle pieces in place and you think: “OK”. The way he prepared, arbeidsmoralen on training, practicing outside of training. Moves. He was amazing, ” says Fortune regarding his former teammate.

Many people associate Solskjær with a quiet and calm person who does not make so much out of himself, but Fortune believes that there’s more to the Norwegian than the eye sees.

He was ruthless. He was ruthless in the way to play. Gave him one chance, you knew that he would punish you. And he could give you the match in a 50-50 duel, Ole could cope with. But people never saw it, they saw only the goals. They saw the moves. He was so intelligent with his movements and the races, but he knew when he had to say something, ” says Fortune, and continues:

I worked with Joe in Cardiff (the assist for the U21 team in 2014, journ.anm.), so I saw the other side of him when he had to say things. But not out of the blue, he said things that needed to be said and it was good to see, for he has learned from the best, ” says Fortune, which, of course, thinking of Sir Alex Ferguson.

It is not a bad mentor to have, which is about to bear fruit for Solskjær, who has been a drømmestart on his career as manager of Manchester United.

Everything he does is right
