Hermien Peters just missed out on a medal at the European Kayak Sprint Championship in Szeged, Hungary. Our 29-year-old compatriot finished fourth, just three tenths of a second behind the bronze medal. The victory went to Hungarian Tamara Csipes (1’54″580), followed by Danish Emma Jorgensen (1’56″530) and Serbian Milika Novakovic (1’57″177). Peters finished with a time of 1’57″477.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Peters placed sixth in the individual 500 meters. Tomorrow morning, Peters will compete in the final of the K2 500 meters with her regular partner Lize Broekx. Her brother, Artuur Peters, will also compete in the final of the K1 1,000 meters.

Despite disruptions in the Belgian team’s preparation due to colds, all boats managed to reach the final. The competition promises to be intense, with Peters aiming to secure a podium finish in the upcoming races. Stay tuned for more updates on Peters’ performance and results at the championship.
