Jarno Widar emerged victorious in the Alpes Isère Tour 2024, confirming his exceptional talent by winning the Tour d’Italie Next Gen, an 8-day competition reserved for riders under 23 years old. The Isère native, Paul Magnier, who won two stages, also secured the green jersey for the best sprinter.
The Alpes Isère Tour has once again proven to be a breeding ground for champions, as evidenced by the success of Jarno Widar from the Lotto Dstny Development team. In the final stage of the Tour d’Italie Espoirs, Widar finished ahead of the Spaniards Pablo Torres (UAE Team Emirates) and Pau Marti (Israel Premier Tech) by less than a minute. The first French rider, Mathys Rondel, narrowly missed the podium.
The last stage saw Matthew Brennan (Team Visma Lease a Bike) clinch the sprint victory in the breakaway. On a local note, Paul Magnier, the rising star from Isère’s Soudal Quick Step team, had an impressive week, winning two stages and claiming the prestigious green jersey for the best sprinter. His performance shows great promise for the future.
