Some three hundred supporters came on their team cheer for the possible titelmatch against Lommel. Malinwa crown tomorrow to champion as it prevails in the province of Limburg and competitor Beerschot-Wilrijk points to do in Leuven.
An open training session for a matchdag: that doesn’t happen every week at KV Mechelen. But this morning, made coach Wouter Vrancken is an exception. The team trained for an hour in the stadium, about three hundred supporters came on their team to cheer for. Players such as Igor de Camargo, Tim Matthys, Onur Kaya and Lucas Bijker were serenaded. The team worked passoefeningen and played some games. Visibly relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere that the fans made.
“It is fantastic to have this support. We want to do well tomorrow. I have heard that we are working with many supporters to Lommel (2.500 fans, red.). It is almost a ” home”, smiled goalkeeper Michael Verrips.
Left Lucas Bijker and struck in: “You see that football lives in Mechelen. It is something fun. You can feel the appreciation of the supporters and so is it even made clear what you are playing. But well, I think each player realizes. Tomorrow we have to win against Lommel, then we’ll see what Beerschot has done. Despite the 0-5-pandoering against Union last weekend die we still trust.”
