The RFC Liège has started training again for their second season in the Challenger Pro League. During a press conference, Pierre François made a plea to the Sang & Marine fans. He wants the Rocourt stadium to be more filled with supporters!

The RFC Liège is gradually moving towards a more professional level. The first team did well last season, and now the focus is on strengthening the club’s infrastructure and their foundation, which is their youth development. During a press conference on Monday, Pierre François briefly talked about this before addressing the Liège supporters. “The goal is to create a youth development system that can nurture talent until they are ready for the first team. Everyone in the club needs to be involved, including the supporters. We appreciate their support, but this is the year where those who claim to be RFC Liège supporters need to step up.”

Pierre François urges the RFC Liège supporters to step up their support. The general manager avoided the term “year of confirmation,” a term disliked by the coach, Gaëtan Englebert, sitting next to him. However, Pierre François knows that for the club to become more professional at all levels, the supporters also need to show up. “We went from 800 to 1200 season ticket holders last season, but ticket sales have not increased. The average attendance is around 2300 supporters. There have been games with 3,000 or more fans, and the new stands have been filled at times, but now is the time to take it to the next level and have significant support.”

“Last year, we had three away games without supporters. The team wasn’t necessarily worse, but only earned one point out of nine. Support from the fans is a key factor in success. I don’t just want to focus on the financial aspect, which is also important, but on all levels, including the sporting aspect.”
