The disputed udrejsecenter Sjælsmark get now new guidelines for the residents. It writes the Foreigners and the ministry of Integration, in a press release.

In the future, the children at the center are allowed to eat in the rooms, the new udlændingeminister, Mattias Tesfaye, decided:

’the Government’s policy is quite clear: asylum Seekers, who get the final refusal of asylum is not entitled to stay in Denmark. They must travel home. It is an absolutely fundamental principle. Denmark is a rule of law,’ says Mattias Tesfaye, which in this case has asked the immigration office to change the procedures.

‘But we also have a special responsibility for the children who live on the Udrejsecenter Sjælsmark. They have not chosen the situation they are in. Therefore, there is now the opportunity to eat with the family in the room. Among other things this is following a recommendation from the Red Cross,’ says the new minister.

the Inhabitants of the Udrejsecenter Sjælsmark can thus take centercafeteriets meals for cafeteriets area and do not need to come to the same place for all meals.

It has engendered massive criticism, fol.a. in the election campaign, that the rules for the rejected families have been rigid, so families had neither been able to make their own meals or eat at, for example, rooms.

in addition to the modification of the procedures for, where families must eat, the government will according to the press release, also in the time to assess ‘whether there may be further initiatives to support, that the children get a more normal everyday life’.
