Anderlecht is working hard to strengthen its defense. The management is considering Nathaniel Adjei as a new option, but there are many other teams interested as well.

With Zeno Debast leaving for Portugal and uncertainty surrounding Jan Vertonghen and Federico Gattoni, Anderlecht urgently needs new blood in defense. They have been eyeing Matte Smets from Sint-Truiden for weeks and hope to finalize the deal soon. However, Adjei is not the only player being considered. Swedish media outlet Expressen reports that Sporting is also interested in Ghanaian player Nathaniel Adjei, along with other teams.

Adjei, a 21-year-old Ghanaian, is currently owned by Swedish club Hammarby. This season, he was loaned out to Lorient for the second half of the season, where he quickly secured a spot in the starting lineup. He still has two years left on his contract in Sweden.

The deal with Lorient included a mandatory purchase option if they stayed in Ligue 1, but their relegation to Ligue 2 changed the situation. Adjei will return to Sweden, but his future there may be short-lived due to interest from other potential suitors. Feyenoord, Strasbourg, and Reims are also reportedly interested in him. Anderlecht, along with Philippe Clement’s Glasgow Rangers, are involved in the negotiations. Anderlecht is willing to offer four million, while Hammarby is currently asking for six.

As Anderlecht competes with other teams for Adjei’s signature, the outcome remains uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
