Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup are in full swing in Africa, with some surprising results coming out of the recent matches. South Africa, a semi-finalist in the last Africa Cup of Nations, secured a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe, moving into second place in Group C alongside the surprising leader, Rwanda, who won 1-0 against Lesotho.
In Group D, Cape Verde defeated Libya 1-0, drawing level with their opponents and the Cameroonian leaders. Tanzania also put pressure on Morocco in Group E with a 1-0 victory over Zambia. The Comoros Islands pulled off a stunning 2-0 win against Chad, taking the top spot in Group I.
