The three pass for AS Rome. The Giallorossi suffered against Monza, reduced to ten just before the break, but ended up winning 1-0 to sign a third victory in a row, Sunday during the 9th day of the Italian Championship.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 90th minute by Italian international Stephan El Shaarawy who took advantage of a poor dismissal from the Monza defense.
The Lombard club were stuck in defense since Danilo D’Ambrosio was sent off after a second warning in the 41st minute and El Shaarawy was able to slip the ball into the goal through a forest of legs.
In the absence of the Argentinian Paulo Dybala, injured in a knee, Roma did not manage to take advantage of its numerical superiority, until the very opportunistic gesture of El Shaarawy who, caught in the turmoil of the affair betting on illicit platforms against his will and defended by his club, ended the meeting in tears.
“I felt a lot of emotion when I scored the winning goal after a week that was very heavy for me. I was angry to see my name mentioned in this affair even though I am a professional,” explained the Italian international on the DAZN platform.
Roma is provisionally 6th, with 14 points, its best ranking of the season.
During the 10th day next weekend, AS Roma will challenge Inter Milan, new leader, but their coach Jose Mourinho will not be on the bench, since he was excluded in added time (90th 9th) after an altercation with his opposite number in Monza.
“It was a difficult match against a good team. We shot at the posts twice, we could also have lost. We did not play well, especially in the first half, with players returning tired from the international break, from long trips to South America or Africa,” insisted Mourinho.
