“Hundreds of thousands of people have again taken to the streets in Algeria’s capital, Algiers, to protest against president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. The protesters are demanding the president’s resignation and police reportedly using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowds.”
“Algeria has been shaken by protests since the 82-year-old president Bouteflika in February told me that he is in violation of the country’s constitution – planned to stand for a fifth term of office. He withdrew his presidential candidacy, but the shot at the same time, the scheduled elections on the future, on which the protests took on new momentum.”
