Last week, a working group consisting of representatives from the six different countries to initiate a feasibility study regarding a new application.
– The nordic presidents took an initiative together to explore the possibility to apply for EM for gentlemen 2024. We came to the conclusion that it was not possible and then started to analyze what other upcoming prestigious championships that could be relevant, ” says Karl-Erik Nilsson, chairman of the Swedish football association, in a press release.
– Then we saw the opportunity with the world CUP for the ladies 2027 and it is incredibly fun that we can now send this signal, that several of these countries, who really were pioneers in women’s football looks at the possibilities to arrange a world CUP together.
The initial study will investigate which venues are available and what are the cities that could be relevant to arrange the championship.
