For Samuel Welsford it was quite the goldigste and at the same time, the fastest half-hour of his life. Within 30 minutes the 23-year-repeated the Australians on the second day of the UCI track Cycling world Championships in the Polish Pruszkow two gold medals and a world record. First, the fast cyclists secured on Thursday night with his team-mates Kelland O’brien, Alexander Porter and Leigh Howard the world title in the team pursuit over 4,000 metres. With a time of 3:48.012 minutes, the Quartet from Down Under is improved in the final of the one-year-old own world record by almost two seconds. A lot of time to celebrate Wels Ford, however, remained.

About half an hour later he was at the final in the Scratch at the Start and pulled out after 15 kilometres on the wooden Oval again Gold. “My tactic was simple: I let the others do the work and positioned me in the Peloton.
