FIFA and the upcoming WORLD cup hosts Qatar face once again with a bad case.

already hundreds of thousands of migrant workers, for years, been exploited in ørkenstaten, and many more thousands have died since the FIFA in december 2010 for the first time sent the final to an arab country.

But Qatar’s WORLD cup committee has consistently held that the migrant workers who build the eight stadiums to be used at the finals in 2022, are being treated much better than all the others. It turns out not to be true.

In a brand new report from Amnesty International reveals that over one hundred workers at the Al Bayt Stadium have not been paid for more than half a year. Al Bayt come to be able to accommodate 60,000 spectators. It must lay at to many matches during the tournament, including one semi-final.

The large stadium is costing 5.8 billion dollars to construct, but it is seen so often before in Qatar, so unwilling to pay a salary to them, which is at the bottom of the hireakiet.

– Migrantarbejderne have told us about the problems they contend with, having worked for many months without pay. They are worried for their families, which are dependent on the money they can send back home from Qatar for school fees and for food and medical expenses, said Steve Cockburn, deputy permanent secretary in Amnesty International.

In advance, migrant workers in Qatar are not particularly well paid, and therefore makes it extra evil, when they are missing up to 100,000 crowns on the pay account.

Many of them have come in extra difficulties, because they have been caught in the slave-like system that still prevails in Qatar. The workers a total in their employer’s violence, and several workers at the Al Bayt in addition to the lack of salary also not given permission to seek other work. In addition, they are due to coronapandemien been crammed into overcrowded camps.

Daniel, whose full name Amnesty is familiar with, has three children he must support. He has worked for Qatar Meta Coats, which builds the Al Bayt Stadium in more than two years. But now he has not been paid in many months.

– We’ve got more than 50 promises. They say next week. But they call again and say in the next week. I have heard 50 times now, but it is just empty promises. I don’t think they will pay us. I don’t know why.

On the basis of Amnesty’s revelations have Qatar’s WORLD cup hosts and FIFA intervened, opposite the Qatar Meta coats. There are promised the stall and recovery, but it happens so only now, although at least Qatar’s WORLD cup committee has been aware of the lack of payments since June of last year.
