SEEFELD (Dagbladet): the Ski world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Seefeld offers a new Norwegian face in the ski jump. Toten-the boy Thomas Aasen Markeng (18) was taken out as the fifth and final athlete in the squad to Alexander Stöckl.
Markeng marked him already during the treningshoppene in Bergiselbakken in Innsbruck on Wednesday, when he dundret into reklameskiltene on the plain. In the Tote goes to be the new John Arne Riise.
– I hear they say it. But I’m a calm and level-headed boy who has a focus on myself and my tasks.

– How do you react that you comparable to Riise?
I’m just grinning of it. There are support services around and many on the Tote that says this.
– if you Have an idea why you compare with Riise?
Probably because he also was a quiet boy who did not make things so difficult, but quite so easily. Now know I’m not Riise though. But I hear they compare me with him.

Enough about it. Thomas Aasen Markeng is first and foremost in the world cup city to jump on the ski. For the large hoppublikum is he unknown. But when you are 18 years of age and are taken out of the world cup at the expense of Anders Fannemel – do you have something to risk with.
– Who are you?
A ski jumper from the Tote. I have jumped since I was ten years old.
It was hoppinga in German Willingen in the weekend that sent Markeng to the world cup. He was good in the team competition when Norway ended up in fourth place. In the individual launders he came on, respectively, 27. and 38. space. In the years he has also won the junior world CHAMPIONSHIP in Lahti.
– How did you react when you were taken out to the ski world CHAMPIONSHIP?
I was shocked. I had to hear my name a few times before I realized that I should be with. It has been a sick season. To top it with a ticket to the world cup is even sicker. This is a great bunch to be on tour with. And I’m proud to be a part of this gang.
