The Norwegian Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles Karsten Warholm achieved the 4th best performance of all time in 46 sec 51 Friday at the Monaco meeting.

Warholm, very fit, thus achieved the best world time of the season, for a hundredth before his own time achieved in Oslo at the beginning of June (46.52). He had run only once faster in his career: in 45 sec 94 to dominate a legendary Olympic final in Tokyo in 2021.

“It shows that I am in good shape, exactly as I expected. I still managed a very good race today, of which I am proud”, appreciated the Norwegian. “My form is improving, it’s perfect. Running a little faster in each race is ideal, it shows that my level of consistency is higher than ever, it means that I have a good chance of running faster in a big championship.

Brazilian world champion Alison Dos Santos took 2nd place in Monaco in 47.66sec, an encouraging time for his first 400m hurdles of the season after suffering a knee injury this winter.
