Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis continued his summer progress by bringing the best performance of the season to 6.12 m at the meeting in Ostrava (Czech Republic) on Tuesday. The reigning Olympic and world champion had so far crossed 6.11 m at best, in Hengelo (Netherlands) in early June, during his first three summer outings in 2023.

The only pole vaulter above six meters on Tuesday, the 23-year-old Swede passed 6.12 m on the first try, before failing three times at 6.17 m. His only failure of the contest came on his first attempt at 5.90m. Duplantis, who raised the pole vault world record to 6.22m in February in Clermont-Ferrand, is now expected by the Swedish public in Stockholm on Sunday. Frenchman Thibaut Collet ranked 6th with 5.60m.
