Frenchman Benjamin Robert finished third in the 800m at the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China on Saturday. In 1 min 43 sec and 88/100th, Robert, silver medalist at the Indoor Euro in Istanbul this winter, and who had failed to qualify for the final of the event at the World Championships in Budapest a week, get on the podium.

He was only beaten by Canadian world champion Marco Arop (2nd) and Kenyan world vice-champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who won in 1:43.20, also achieving the best performance of the year. The two other Frenchmen entered, Yanis Meziane and Gabriel Tual, finished 6th and 8th respectively.
