Bahamian Steven Gardiner, Olympic champion in the 400m, achieved the best performance in the world of the lap season in 43 sec 74 Tuesday in Székesfehérvár (Hungary), ahead of Jamaican Rusheen McDonald (44.03).
Olympic champion in 2021 in Tokyo, and world champion in 2019 in Doha, Gardiner (27) is in very good shape with the second best time of his career, a year after missing the 2022 Worlds in Eugene (Oregon, United States). United) due to a tendon injury.
Since his silver medal at the London Worlds in 2017, Gardiner has not experienced defeat by finishing a 400m (28 wins, three retirements due to injury).
